Discovery Sailing Project

Eight scouts took part in the Discovery Sailing Project over the weekend of 20-22nd June.

The Scouts, four girls and four boys aged between 10 and 16, accompanied by Ian, spent the weekend on a 40-foot yacht, The Discovery, taking part in rigging the boat, working the sails, taking turns at the helm and looking after meals and cleaning. Over the weekend, the Scouts took the boat across the Solent to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight where they spent Saturday night, and then returned on Sunday.

Everybody had a great time over the weekend and voted unanimously to repeat the event in the future.

More details can be found in the Past Events and Photo Galleries.

The Discovery Sailing Project is a Scout Association scheme that owns sailing boats based on the river Hamble. The boats are accompanied by fully qualified crew.
