Raising money for Watford New Hope Trust & Explorers

The Explorers and Leaders will be undertaking a real challenge in December to raise much needed cash, not only for us, but also for Watford New Hope Trust. We will be taking part in the 2012 St Albans Abbey sleep-out. With just cardboard to lie on, a sleeping bag to keep warm and plastic bags to stay dry, we will experience the true hardships of sleeping out. It’s not easy sleeping out, especially in December, but we should all leave with a greater understanding of what it is like to be a rough sleeper in the UK. The best way to sponsor us via our Virgin Money Giving page.

Thanks in advance !!

Ain't no mountain high enough..ain't no valley low enough.

Although Scarlett, Caitlyn, James and Angus may disagree. A tough climb up Tryfan on 25 October with conditions wet and slippy on the rock. This was followed by a walk in the dark to our wild camp site for the night. We definately had the mountain to ourselves - who else would want to be around in the rain half way up a mountain in Snowdonia in late October? But everyone had a warm dry night. The next morning was dry and bright as we descended to Pen y Pass and caught the Sherpa bus back to the cars and then to the legendary Pinnacle cafe for tea and fry up.

Grimsdyke hike - you don't have to be grim...

Congratulations to both Cetendone teams who completed the Grimsdyke Hike this weekend. But particularly to the Hiking Hippos who came 8th overall despite their having to carry full expedition packs all weekend as they needed to comply with D of E rules, where other teams were able to use lightweight daypacks. We look forward to the presentations next week.

If you go down to the woods today 3/10/2011

What a great weekend. Cetendone Explorers were joined by older scouts from Cheddington, Ivinghoe & Pitstone and Aston Clinton for a weekend at Braid Wood. No need for a mess tent due to the phenomenal weather. The group of 22 spent the afternoon playing lazer quest. Nicki Reeve then cooked us a curry feast after which the scouts did a blind obstacle course through the woods following a 250 metre rope course. Thanks to our helpers from the other groups and Iain Holliday.

Luckily for a couple of our Explorers what goes on camp, stays on camp!!

The next event, Kite surfing in March, will have to try hard to beat this one.
