Escape and Evasion – Saturday 1st October 2016

This year, our Scout District Group - 8 Scout Troops - are planning to hold an Escape and Evasion event in the area around Wendover Woods, themed around a Pokemon-style challenge. The aim of the entire day will be to build the largest number of points in the challenges that you face. Teams will start outside the Woods completing a series of challenges. Then teams will move into the Woods as darkness falls. The event will run from 5pm to 10pm and it is open to Scouts and Explorers. Teams will need to consist of 4-6 Scouts/Explorers.

Each Scout team will need an adult shadow. (Explorer teams will not need a shadow).

Each team must carry with them the following :

• OS Explorer 181 map Chiltern Hills North (Keith has these...),
• at least one compass,
• one map case (Keith has these),
• a first aid kit,
• a whistle,
• reflective vests/sashes for all (We have these),
• fully charged mobile (registered as the team mobile).
• Waterproofs would also be worth packing.

Teams should bring some snacks/drink with them, but we will provide each team with a warm drink at the end of the evening. The cost of this event will be £5 per Scout or Explorer, which will cover all equipment and the costs of the event. (Keith says.....It may be that we subsidise this. Tbc.) We will provide more information nearer the time, including a registration and permissions form, which each Scout will need to bring completed with them on the day. We will also need the help of as many leaders and adult volunteers to run bases and maintain safety during this event.
